A night of delicious beers during the Killarney Brewing Company beer tour - Killarney, IrelandDuring our recent visit to Killarney for TBEX we had the opportunity to visit Killarney Brewing Company. As some of our more regular readers will know, we do like a beer while we travel and I am always keen to visit more breweries. Can you believe this was Danik’s first brewery tour!A night of delicious beers during the Killarney Brewing Company beer tour - Killarney, IrelandWe were really grateful for Killarney Brewing Company for organising this pre-TBEX event as it meant not only did we get to enjoy an evening of beer tasting but we also got to catch up with a few fellow travel bloggers.A night of delicious beers during the Killarney Brewing Company beer tour - Killarney, Ireland

Who Are Killarney Brewing Company?

After the founding partners restored the old Killarney mineral water drinks facility to it’s former glory Killarney Brewing Company quickly became one of Ireland’s most exciting independent craft breweries. Their beer is made with only the finest ingredients, additive and preservative free and produced in small batches to ensure the quality remains in every bottle. Their mission is to bring a new level of excellence and appreciation to beer drinking.A night of delicious beers during the Killarney Brewing Company beer tour - Killarney, Ireland

The Tour

We entered through the door and straight away I noticed the state of the art equipment on display in the bar. I’ve always enjoyed going to bars where elements of the beer making process are on display so seeing this instantly put a smile on my face. We were greeted by cheery staff members whose enthusiasm was definitely infectious.A night of delicious beers during the Killarney Brewing Company beer tour - Killarney, IrelandWe sat around the tables in the bar catching up with old and new blogger friends while a selection of Killarney Brewing Company beers were placed in front of us. We were presented with their Devil’s Helles Lager, Golden Spear Blonde, Rutting Red Irish Red Ale and the Scarlet Pimpernel IPA. My favourite was the Golden Spear Blonde but Danik preferred the Devil’s Helles Lager. A night of delicious beers during the Killarney Brewing Company beer tour - Killarney, IrelandAfter we were done sampling the beers we were brought upstairs to learn more about Killarney Brewing Company. They showed us a video which was one of the best informational videos I’ve ever seen. Knowing that a lot of people find these types of videos boring they decided to add a twist to theirs. Half of the film was light hearted fun with a few over exaggerated facts. This helped get everyone’s attention before showing the key information about why Killarney Brewing Company beers are so special.A night of delicious beers during the Killarney Brewing Company beer tour - Killarney, Ireland

  1. Love the side note mention of their pizza – a great food to pair with beer! But anyways, that looks like a nice sized flight of beer you got with the tour! It all looks well worth the €12 tour price!

  2. I always enjoy taking tours of local factories and this one looks worth a visit. It looks like you had a lot of fun!

  3. Will give this a go on our next trip to Ireland, thanks for sharing. It sounds like you had a great time

  4. I’m not a beer drinker, but this looked like a fun time! My husband would love it, especially learning about the being process. TBEX sounds like a great time, I signed up for NY Finger Lakes next year!

  5. We’re such beer-holics, we’re always looking for the breweries wherever we go! Now we just have to get back to Ireland 🙂

  6. We love visiting and touring breweries. Always a fun and tasty way to get a feel for a town. Looks like a pretty affordable price too. Would definitely do this on a trip to Ireland…now just to get there!!

  7. We love Ireland and my better half loves his microbreweries and would very much enjoy a beer tour in Ireland.

  8. I’m a big fan of trying different craft breweries when I travel and Killarney Brewing COmpany looks like a lot of fun. I was surprised to see more of an American style selection of beers in an Irish brewery.

  9. My husband is a real lover of good beer so I always try and plan some brewery visits into our itineraries. Hoping to visit Ireland in next 12 months so good to have this on my radar!

  10. I went there during TBEX too 🙂 We stayed a week in Killarney so I tried all their brews. Good pizzas too! My only regret is that they don’t sell the bottles on site… Really like that Saison!

  11. It looks like you all had a great time! What could be more fun than hanging out with friends, drinking good beer?!

  12. Who doesn’t love a good beer? Touring any brewing company is pretty fun but doing so in Ireland probably added another layer of entertainment. The beers you tried seemed more in the American ilk then I would have imagined. I bet they were pretty delicious!

  13. $12 seems like quite a reasonable price and from this post it looks like they packed the hour. As a beer lover myself, I do love tasting good local beer and what better than trying in the brewery itself. You’ve put the taste of beer and pizza in my mouth after reading this haha. Adding this to my to do list when I eventually get over to Ireland (I’m from England and never been, I know shame on me)

  15. YES! I’m heading to Ireland in May and I LOVE beer. I’m happy to see a nice alternative (or another in addition to) Guiness! I’ll definitely have to try this tour out and have one of those wood-fired pizzas. Pizza + beer is the best combo!

  16. I love all the ales and stouts from the UK and Ireland and visiting a brewery is always good fun (especially because there is beer involved 😀 ) The Killarney Brewery sounds like good fun to visit as well. I really like that they have done a funny but informative video. I’d love to taste one of their Irish Red as I love this kind of beer <3

  17. Killarney was truly awesome and the beer was unforgettable. Excellent post, Claire! 😉

  18. Can see you had a great time at the Killarney brewing company. Of course, the beer is synonymous with Ireland, but the fact that you could catch up with fellow bloggers at TBEX was wonderful, I am sure you all had a great time catching up and exchanging notes.

  19. We have never done any Brewery tour until day but it is on our list. The Killarney Brewing tour looks amazing and fun too. Wood fire oven pizzas along with Beer will simply make our day.

  20. I have been to a few Microbreweries in India but this one looks like a detailed walk through at an affordable price. I hope to join a TBEX sometime.

  21. I have done many a wine tour, but never a brewery tour! This one of Killarney’s looks super enjoyable. I would so be into it. The best kind of tasting tours are ones that come with food! I would definitely crush one of those wood fired pizzas <3

  22. I really enjoyed the tour too and learning more about their process for making beer. The blonde and the red ended up being my favorites.

  23. My hubby and I are suckers for beer. We used to visit the new microbreweries every weekend in Bangalore, India to try Craft beers. Would love to visit a brewery company someday.

  24. That’s so cool you attended TBEX! I’m definitely thinking of doing it next year and although I’m not a big on beers (I like my wines) but looks and sounds like you had a blast! Will for sure have to check out their brewery tour too!

  25. Brewery tours are one of the things we love to do….perhaps because we have a great love of good beer 🙂 Beer and Ireland go hand in hand too so you’ve found the perfect spot to do it. Had a red Kilkenny in Bordeaux recently while we watched the football.
